A Sewer Scope Inspection is a visual video scope of the sewer pipe that carries sewer waste away from your home.  This process can identify problems that could cost thousands of dollars after the sale is completed and the new owner is responsible.

This inspection looks at the type and quality of the piping between the home and the sewer connection (either a septic tank or public utility connection).  In no case will the inspection enter these devices for observation.

The inspector will enter the sewer pipe through an available service clean out and inspect the sewer pipe.  Afterward, the sewer pipe will be re-sealed and tested for leaks.  A report will be compiled and sent to the client fully detailing the findings.

Do I need a sewer inspection?

Sewer repairs are costly and messy.  Even a simply cracked pipe can end up costing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to repair.  The smallest crack in a pipe can allow roots to enter the interior of the pipe and block solids from flowing through.  Eventually these solids will back up into the home or cause a complete stoppage.  Liquid drain cleaner won't fix that.  You can take steps to protect your investment by adding a sewer scope inspection to your other home inspection services.  Not every home is a candidate for sewer scope inspections.  Speak with your inspector for further details.
